Sambucus peruviana rounded cluster of many small pale flowers beside compound toothed leaves

Sambucus peruviana

Sambucus peruviana is an Andean shrub or small tree native to western South America. Opposite compound leaves have several toothed leaflets, and rounded clusters contain many small pale flowers. Dark fruits develop in dense groups on branching stalks. The species occurs in cool montane valleys and high-elevation vegetation, including sites above 9,800 feet. Research-grade observations document it in Peru. Photographed in Colombia.
