Persea ferruginea branch with rust brown buds and small open greenish yellow flowers

Persea ferruginea

Persea ferruginea is an evergreen tree in the avocado family native to the northern Andes. Its branchlets and flower clusters have a rust-colored covering, reflected in the species name. Small greenish-yellow flowers are grouped in branched inflorescences and later develop into fleshy fruits. Research-grade observations document the species in Colombia and Ecuador. Photographed in Colombia.
