Aeschynanthus speciosus is a striking epiphytic vine native to the humid tropical forests of Southeast Asia, especially Malaysia and Indonesia, where it grows on trees in shaded, moist environments. This species belongs to the Gesneriaceae family and is well known for its large, vibrant, tubular flowers that resemble those of the lipstick plant group, to which it is closely related. The blooms are typically orange to red with yellow throats and are borne in terminal clusters, often producing a dramatic, fiery display. Its thick, leathery, glossy green leaves are arranged in opposite pairs along long trailing stems. TIt is propagated from stem cuttings and rarely produces seed in cultivation. Photographed in Florida.
