The lipstick plant, is a tropical flowering plant native to the rainforests of Southeast Asia, particularly found in Malaysia and Indonesia. Growing as an epiphyte, this species naturally attaches itself to trees and other structures in humid, shaded forest environments, absorbing moisture and nutrients from the air and rainfall. Its trailing or cascading habit makes it a beautiful ornamental plant, especially in hanging baskets. The lipstick plant is named for its distinctive tubular flowers, which emerge from dark calyxes resembling a lipstick case. These flowers are bright red or deep orange or pink, and often bloom throughout the year when grown in ideal conditions. The plant is easy to propagate from stem cuttings, Photographed in Florida.
