Cissus verticillata
Cissus verticillata is native to tropical regions of the Americas, where it grows as a climbing vine in warm, humid environments. The plant produces clusters of small, greenish-yellow flowers followed by dark berries. This species has a long history of traditional medicinal use, where various parts of the plant are prepared for conditions such as diabetes, inflammation, and digestive issues and may have hypoglycemic and antioxidant properties. The fruit is edible. Photographed in Peru.
