Native to the coastal rainforests of eastern Australia it grows as a solitary, monoecious palm This species is valued for its elegant appearance. In landscape cultivation it forms straight, ringed gray trunks that commonly reach 40–60 ft with a smooth pale-green crownshaft and a head of arching fronds. Archontophoenix cunninghamiana is widely used as an ornamental plant in tropical and subtropical regions around the world. Photographed in the department of Quindio, Colombia.
