Euphorbia cotinifolia
A small tree originating from Mexico and South America with a blend of burgundy-red foliage and small white flowers. Awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it's recognized not only for its ornamental charm but also for its role in aiding pollinators, providing nectar and pollen for a range of insects. Its sap, while hazardous, has found use in traditional practices; native tribes have utilized it both medicinally and as a poison to aid in catching fish. Photographed in the department of North Santander, Colombia.
