Leucojum aestivum
This perennial bulbous plant originates in Europe, extending to North Iran and found across to the Crimea and the eastern side of the Black Sea, the Summer Snowflake has naturalized in various parts of the temperate world including North America. Commonly known as the Summer Snowflake, this plant displays a graceful array of drooping white, bell-shaped blooms tipped with green. Known for its medicinal alkaloid content, particularly galanthamine, the bulb extract of the plant has also shown potential in providing anti-aging benefits. Photographed in Bogotá, Colombia.
