Norte de Santander is located in northeastern Colombia bordering Venezuela. Andean Highlands: The western part of the department is mountainous, part of the Eastern Ranges of the Andes. The eastern part extends into the Llanos, or plains. Cúcuta is the capital city and Pamplona is one of the more notable pueblos. North Santander in an interesting area to visit for its natural beauty yet is a region with occasional armed conflict.
