Originating from Mexico and Central America, Yucca gigantea is a species widely cultivated for its striking appearance and adaptability producing white flowers on erect spikes, followed by brown, fleshy fruits. It's the national flower of El Salvador, where it is known as izote and features prominently in Salvadoran cuisine​​​​​​.
