Vriesea taritubensis

Native to the mountains of Costa Rica, Vriesea taritubensis is an epiphytic bromeliad of wet tropical forest. Long green strap-shaped leaves form a broad rosette that collects water. A tall upright inflorescence is densely covered with overlapping scarlet bracts, creating a narrow lance-like spike above the foliage. Photographed in Florida.
