The top of a Vochysia lehmannii tree in full bloom with dense clusters of yellow flowers reaching upwards against a blue sky.
Vochysia lehmannii

ochysia lehmannii is a tree native to the tropical rainforests of Colombia and Ecuador. It has yellow flowers, which bloom in dense, clustered arrangements. Each flower exhibits a unique structure with a single petal prominently larger than the others, which is characteristic of the genus and thought to aid in attracting specific pollinators. The wood of Vochysia lehmannii is relatively lightweight but durable, which has led to its occasional use in small-scale carpentry and construction within local communities. Photographed in Colombia.
