Vismia cayennensis

Vismia cayennensis is a shrub or small tree native from Trinidad and Tobago through tropical South America. It grows at forest edges, in secondary growth, and on disturbed tropical ground. Opposite leathery leaves frame branching clusters of rounded buds. The small flowers have yellowish-green petals covered inside with white hairs and numerous stamens arranged in bundles. Fleshy, rounded fruits follow the flowers. Photographed in Florida.
