Vismia cayennensis

Native to northern South America, Vismia cayennensis is a shrub or small tree of forest edges, secondary growth, and disturbed tropical ground. Opposite leathery leaves frame branching clusters of rounded buds and small pale flowers. Numerous stamens form conspicuous brush-like centers, and the flowers are followed by fleshy berry-like fruits. Photographed in Florida.
