Native to the mountains of Costa Rica and Panama, Viburnum costaricanum is an evergreen shrub or small tree of moist montane forest. Opposite leathery leaves frame broad branching clusters of many small cream-white flowers and rounded buds. The blossoms are followed by fleshy fruits that darken as they mature.
