Native from Europe through western Asia, Verbascum phlomoides is a biennial or short-lived perennial herb of dry open ground and disturbed sites. Large woolly leaves form a broad basal rosette, followed by a tall flowering stem. Bright yellow five-petaled flowers open among densely felted buds and bracts. Photographed in Colombia.
