Native from the southern United States and Caribbean through tropical America, Varronia curassavica is an aromatic shrub of dry forest, scrub, and disturbed ground. Rough serrated leaves grow along branching stems. Small white flowers are packed into narrow curved spikes and are followed by red fleshy fruits. Photographed in Colombia.
