Vachellia macracantha

Native from Mexico and the Caribbean through tropical South America, Vachellia macracantha is a thorny shrub or tree of dry forest and open scrub. Fine bipinnate leaves grow beside long paired spines. Numerous tiny golden yellow flowers form dense spherical heads that appear in clusters along the branches. Photographed in Colombia.
