Uvaria rufa

Native from southern China through mainland Southeast Asia to Malesia, Uvaria rufa is a woody climbing plant of wet tropical forest. Young stems and leaves may carry rusty hairs. The unusual flowers have thick outer petals that shift from greenish yellow to red around a broad domed center packed with stamens and carpels. Photographed in Florida.
