Native from the southern United States through Mexico and the Caribbean to parts of tropical America, Turnera diffusa is a small aromatic shrub of dry scrub and open sandy ground. Serrated leaves grow along slender woody stems. Bright yellow five-petaled flowers open from hairy green calyces and have darker markings near the base. Photographed in Colombia.
