Tradescantia ohiensis


Native to central and eastern North America, Tradescantia ohiensis is a clump-forming perennial herb of prairies, open woodland, roadsides, and rocky ground. Upright stems carry long narrow leaves and clusters of three-petaled blue to violet flowers. Numerous yellow anthers stand out at the center of each blossom. Photographed in Colombia.
