Torenia fournieri (Wishbone Flower)
Native from India to southern China and mainland Southeast Asia, and to Taiwan, this bushy annual herb in the Linderniaceae family grows about 6 to 18 inches tall. Its oval, light green leaves have toothed edges. Two-lipped trumpet flowers are usually blue-violet with a yellow throat marking; cultivars also have pink, magenta, or white flowers. Two stamens join at their anthers to form a wishbone shape. Its tiny seeds need light to germinate. Photographed in the department of QuindĂo, Colombia.
