Torenia fournieri
Native to Bangladesh, Cambodia, China South-Central, China Southeast, India, and Laos and nearby regions, this is an herbaceous plant in the Linderniaceae family. It is an annual species with bicolored blooms ranging from pale violet to dark purple. It does not fare well in hot and humid conditions. Cultivars of the species offer a range of flower colors beyond the natural bicolor palette. These variations, along with the species’ ease of growth in shaded areas, have made it a popular choice for gardeners seeking to brighten up less sunny spots. Photographed in the department of Quindio, Colombia.
