Tillandsia tectorum purple-tinged flower spike above a dense rosette of silvery scaled leaves

Tillandsia tectorum

Native to Ecuador and Peru, Tillandsia tectorum is a rock-growing bromeliad of exposed Andean habitats. Dense white scales cover its long narrow leaves, creating a silvery rosette that captures moisture from humid air and fog. A slender flowering stem carries purple-tinged bracts and small pale violet flowers. Photographed in Ecuador.
