Tillandsia sigmoidea upright inflorescence with layered pink bracts growing beside a mossy trunk

Tillandsia sigmoidea

Native only to the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in Colombia, Tillandsia sigmoidea is an epiphytic bromeliad of wet tropical forest. Arching green leaves form a basal rosette beneath a tall upright inflorescence. Overlapping pink bracts create several flattened spikes from which small tubular flowers emerge. Photographed in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, Colombia.
