Tillandsia latifolia

Native to arid coastal and Andean regions of Ecuador and Peru, Tillandsia latifolia is an epiphytic or terrestrial bromeliad adapted to strong sun and limited rainfall. Broad gray-green leaves form spreading rosettes that can develop offsets on elongated stems. Tall inflorescences carry orange to red bracts and narrow violet flowers. Photographed in Colombia.
