Thunbergia mysorensis (Indian Clock Vine)

Native to the tropical montane forests of southern India, this attractive evergreen woody liane. It is a robust climber that can reach a height of up to 30 feet or more. The vine is widely cultivated in tropical gardens​​​​. Esteemed by many as one of the most beautiful vines, it exhibits striking pendulous racemes of flowers, which can grow up to 3 feet long. The blooms, about 2 inches in length, display a prominent yellow throat with reflexed dark reddish-brown lobes. These flowers are not only showy but also produce copious amounts of nectar, attracting various pollinators​​. It has been honored with the prestigious Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit. Photographed in the central Andes mountain range of Colombia.
