Theobroma bicolor small reddish star-shaped flower with a pale center on an older branch

Theobroma bicolor

Native to tropical America, Theobroma bicolor is an understory tree cultivated for its edible fruit and seeds. Small flowers develop directly on older branches and the trunk, with narrow reddish petals surrounding a pale central structure. The ribbed fruits contain white pulp around large seeds used in regional foods and cacao-related preparations. Photographed in Colombia.
