Tetrapanax papyrifer

Native to Taiwan and southeastern China, Tetrapanax papyrifer is an evergreen to deciduous shrub or small tree with very large palmately lobed leaves. Broad terminal panicles carry spherical clusters of small cream flowers, followed by dark fruits. The soft pith has historically been cut into thin sheets used as a paper-like material.
