Tatacoa Desert, Colombia

The Tatacoa Desert is a dry tropical landscape in northern Huila. Erosion has shaped gullies, ridges, and exposed sediment into distinctive red and gray formations among sparse shrubs and cactus vegetation.

The open terrain and limited artificial light also make the area well known for observing the night sky.
