Tamarix smyrnensis

Native from southeastern Europe through western and central Asia, Tamarix smyrnensis is a deciduous shrub or small tree of saline shores, riverbanks, and dry open ground. Slender branchlets carry tiny scale-like leaves and narrow sprays of pale pink flowers. The airy crown is formed by many fine, flexible twigs. Photographed in Florida.
