Tacca chantrieri

Native from southern China through mainland Southeast Asia, Tacca chantrieri is a rhizomatous forest herb known as the black bat flower. Dark purple-black bracts spread above clusters of small flowers, while numerous threadlike bracteoles hang beneath them. Large glossy leaves rise independently from the thick underground rhizome.
