Symphyotrichum retroflexum

Native to the southeastern United States, Symphyotrichum retroflexum is a perennial herb of open woodlands, roadsides, and dry disturbed ground. Violet-blue ray florets surround a small pale disk on flower heads borne above narrow leaves. Slender branching stems may arch outward as the plant flowers during autumn. Photographed in Florida.
