Symphyotrichum novae-angliae

Native to central and eastern North America, Symphyotrichum novae-angliae is a tall perennial herb of moist meadows, prairies, and stream margins. Numerous violet-purple rays surround golden yellow disks on large flower heads. Hairy upright stems carry clasping leaves and branch near the top into dense autumn flower clusters.
