Symphyotrichum laeve

Native across much of temperate North America, Symphyotrichum laeve is a perennial herb of prairies, open woods, and rocky slopes. Pale blue to lavender rays surround yellow disks that become reddish with age. Smooth upright stems bear clasping leaves and branching clusters of flower heads near their tips.
