Symphyotrichum grandiflorum


Native to the southeastern United States, Symphyotrichum grandiflorum is a perennial herb of dry sandy woods and open pinelands. Branching stems carry many flower heads with pale lavender rays surrounding yellow disks that become reddish purple with age. The narrow leaves and stems have a rough, hairy texture.
