Streptosolen jamesonii (Marmalade Bush)

Native to Ecuador and Peru, it is an evergreen, branching shrub. Clusters of slender tubular flowers open into five spreading lobes, with yellow and deep orange blooms appearing together. Small, dark green leaves have a wrinkled surface. The species is cultivated and naturalized in Colombia and has received the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit. It can be propagated by cuttings or layering. Photographed in the eastern and central Andes mountain range of Colombia.
