Streptocarpus ionanthus (African Violet)

Native to Kenya and Tanzania, this is an herbaceous plant in the Gesneriaceae family. Originally from the cloud forests of Tanzania. This plant has a rich cultivation history and is highly appreciated for its ornamental value, particularly for its vibrant violet-like flowers. Numerous cultivars and hybrids present other colors and styles. Its adaptability to indoor conditions has made it a common houseplant worldwide. Photographed in Armenia, Colombia.
