Stigmaphyllon echitoides

A woody vine native to tropical South America, Stigmaphyllon echitoides climbs through shrubs and forest margins. Small clusters carry bright yellow flowers with five unequal petals, finely fringed margins, and reddish markings near the center. Opposite leaves and flexible stems support the branching inflorescences. Developing buds accompany the open flowers. Photographed in Colombia.
