Stigmaphyllon bogotense

A woody vine native to northwestern South America, Stigmaphyllon bogotense climbs through forest margins and secondary vegetation. Clusters carry bright yellow five-petaled flowers with fringed petal edges and a complex central group of stamens and styles. Opposite leaves occur along flexible climbing stems. New buds develop beside the open blossoms. Photographed in Colombia.
