A small epiphytic orchid native to Central America, Stelis butcheri inhabits humid mountain forests. Slender pendent inflorescences bear spaced rows of tiny pale green to yellow flowers, each dominated by three triangular sepals. Thick narrow leaves grow from compact stems attached to shaded branches and trunks. The flowers open successively along each spike. Photographed in Florida.
