Stachytarpheta cayennensis

A tropical American herb or subshrub, Stachytarpheta cayennensis grows in open vegetation, roadsides, and disturbed habitats. Slender upright spikes carry a few violet-blue tubular flowers at a time, each opening from a groove in the spike. Opposite green leaves have coarse teeth and a strongly textured surface.
