Spondias mombin (Yellow Mombin)
Hailing from the tropical Americas and West Indies, the Yellow Mombin, is a fruit-bearing tree, that has been naturalized across the tropics. The tree's edible fruits, featuring a leathery skin and pulp enclosing a seed rich in oil content (31.5%), are consumed fresh or processed into juice, jellies, and sherbets.You can sometimes find this tasty fruit in the markets when in season, however often the fruit falls to the ground and are left to rot.
