Solidago odora

A perennial herb native to eastern North America, Solidago odora grows in dry open woods, fields, and sandy roadsides. Its narrow leaves release an anise-like scent when crushed. One-sided arching branches carry many small yellow flower heads that together form a graceful plume above the upright leafy stems. Photographed in Florida.
