Solidago mexicana broad branching cluster of many small yellow goldenrod flower heads

Solidago mexicana

A perennial goldenrod native to North America, Solidago mexicana grows in open grasslands, sandy ground, and roadsides. Branching stems carry dense clusters of small yellow flower heads above narrow leaves. The numerous tiny ray and disk florets combine to form a broad golden inflorescence late in the growing season. Photographed in Florida.
