Solandra grandiflora (Cup of Gold)

Native to northeastern Brazil, southeastern Brazil, southern Brazil, Costa Rica, Cuba, and El Salvador and nearby regions, this is a vine in the Solanaceae family. This vine is famed for its expansive flowers and lustrous leaves. Archaeological evidence suggests its employment as a hallucinogen may precede that of peyote. The leaves contain alkaloids like atropine and hyoscyamine, utilized in native rituals to brew a potent tea​​. Its distribution is primarily across tropical America​​.
