Sida glomerata
This plant is an upright subshrub native to tropical America, including the Caribbean. It has simple toothed leaves arranged in two rows and small flowers borne singly or in pairs in the leaf axils. Five white petals with yellow bases surround the yellow stamens on a central staminal column. The fruit separates into small one-seeded segments at maturity. It grows in open, disturbed habitats such as roadsides and cultivated ground. Its tough branches have been used to make rough brooms. Photographed in Colombia.
