Senecio vira-vira

A compact South American subshrub, this species is conspicuous for its dense covering of pale woolly hairs. Narrow divided leaves and young stems appear silvery gray, while rounded clusters of cream flower heads rise above the foliage. The hairs reduce the exposed green surface and give the plant a soft felted texture. Its natural range extends through temperate parts of southern South America. Photographed in Florida.
