Senecio ovatus

An upright perennial native to Europe and western Asia, this woodland species produces branching stems with elongated toothed leaves. Numerous small yellow flower heads occur in broad terminal clusters, each composed of short ray florets surrounding a central disk. The leafy stems arise from a perennial underground base and commonly occupy forest openings, woodland margins, and other moist, partially shaded habitats. Photographed in Florida.
