An epiphytic cactus native to southeastern Brazil, Schlumbergera russelliana grows on trees and rocks in humid Atlantic Forest mountains. Its flattened jointed stems have rounded margins, and pendent pink flowers extend outward in layered segments around a projecting style. The branching stems hang from their support rather than forming an upright cactus column. Photographed in Florida.
